Following the directives of Commander General and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) Dr Olaseni Ogunyemi, which ordered all operative commands to embark on public enlightenment, enforcement and implementation of all other safety precautions, Ijoko Unit Command’s personnel on Wednesday · March 13, 2025, officially visited Veevee Paper Products Company to warn their divers against indiscriminate parking, route violation, excessive speed, drunk driving and other related factor causing crashes on the roads.
The team was led by the Command’s Unit Commander, Cdr Temitope Oseni.
The meeting has in attendance of the company’s senior management staff which includes its Managing Director, Mr Jame Hoad, Human Resources Manager, Mr Ajao Abiodun, Health and Safety Officer, Mr Edmond Minima and Mr Awhanu Abidemi Ezekiel.
Speaking at the meeting, Cdr Oseni stated that the gathering is highly imperative due to infractions on roads by motorists which included indiscriminate parking and route violations by truck/trailer drivers.
She explained that TRACE would continue to have zero tolerance for road traffic rules violation and any driver and vehicle owner found violating traffic rules and regulations would be arrested and prosecuted.
“TRACE is appealing to motorists, especially truck/trailer drivers to refrain from obstructing roads and route violation, known as one-way, excessive speed, overloading, driving under influence of substances, fatigue and aggressiveness. These has attributed to the major factors causing crashes on the roads.
“Each of the commanders had been directed from the headquarters to educate, enforce and implement all strategy that could stem high rate of accident at their various domain. TRACE will have no option than to tow off the road any truck/trailer parked indiscriminately on the road to avoid crashes.
“All companies are expected to create packing spaces for their trucks rather than the road side. Anytime the hosting community lodge complaining about illegal packing along the axis, we must listening to their complained by removing the impediment,” she said.
Cdr Oseni, sought for more synergy, partnership and collaboration between the company and TRACE on safety standard that could reduce carnages on the road.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr Hoad expressed happiness about the visitation and also pledged continuous collaboration between the company and the road traffic management agency.
Mr Ajao thanked the TRACE officers for the visitation and charged them for full cooperation with the company’s transport department while Mr Minima pledged contacting the agency for help on parking arrangements whenever they are expecting lots of trucks to supply them goods/materials.
