IGANMODE FESTIVAL 2025:
The Unveiling of Otta Fashionistas — A Living Heritage Reimagined
“…Ti Ojú Ọba Ti Òṣùpá Lípẹ̀tí, Ojú Ọmọ Iganmode Kì Í Ṣe Kékèké.”

History came alive, culture spoke boldly, and fashion found its ancestral roots as the ancient town of Ota Awori Kingdom stood still in reverence and celebration during the Iganmode Cultural Festival 2025, held on Saturday, 20th December 2025. Tagged “Fashionista L’Ota – The Unveiling of Otta Fashionistas @ Iganmode Cultural Festival,” the 2025 edition was not just a festival; it was a powerful statement of identity, unity, and renaissance.
At the heart of this grand cultural rebirth is the visionary monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Prof.) Abdulkadiri Obalanlege, the Olota of Ota Awori Kingdom, whose passion for heritage preservation and progressive cultural renaissance continues to redefine traditional leadership in modern Nigeria. Under his reign, Iganmode Festival has evolved beyond ritual remembrance into a globally appealing cultural platform—where history, creativity, youth expression, and economic opportunities intersect.
A KING WITH VISION, A THRONE WITH PURPOSE
Oba Prof. Abdulkadiri Obalanlege has consistently demonstrated that kingship is not only about preserving the past, but also about inspiring the future. The 2025 Iganmode Festival reflected his deep conviction that culture must live, breathe, and evolve with the people. By introducing Fashionista L’Ota, the monarch boldly bridged tradition with contemporary expression, empowering the younger generation to see culture not as relics of yesterday, but as tools for today and tomorrow.
Through his leadership, the Iganmode Festival has become a symbol of Awori pride—one that unites indigenes at home and in the diaspora, while projecting Ota Awori Kingdom onto national and global cultural maps.
STRONG SUPPORT, SHARED COMMITMENT
The success and grandeur of Iganmode Festival 2025 were further amplified by the unwavering support of distinguished leaders who believe in culture as a pillar of development.
Foremost among them is Distinguished Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI), whose commitment to grassroots development and cultural preservation continues to resonate deeply with the people of Ogun West and beyond. His support underscores the importance of aligning governance with heritage, ensuring that culture remains a catalyst for unity and economic growth.
Equally commendable is the backing of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, the Executive Governor of Ogun State, whose administration has consistently championed tourism, culture, and creative industries as engines of sustainable development. His inclusive governance philosophy reflects in the vibrancy and confidence with which Ogun State cultures now flourish.
The presence and encouragement of Her Excellency, Engr. Mrs. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, further reaffirmed the state’s commitment to cultural advancement, women empowerment, and youth participation—values clearly mirrored in the Fashionista L’Ota showcase.
A GATHERING OF ROYALTY, WISDOM AND INFLUENCE
The festival was graced by an impressive assembly of Kings and Baales from across Awori land, whose presence reinforced unity, ancestral bonds, and shared responsibility for cultural continuity. Chiefs, elder statesmen, business icons, culture enthusiasts, and community leaders all came together in a rare convergence of tradition and modern influence.
Their collective presence sent a powerful message: that Awori culture is strong, respected, and united—guided by wisdom, supported by leadership, and embraced by the people.
FASHION, ENTERTAINMENT AND THE SPIRIT OF THE PEOPLE
What truly set the 2025 edition apart was its colorful, energetic, and people-driven celebration. From dawn till dusk, the festival ground came alive with breathtaking traditional and contemporary fashion displays, showcasing the creativity, elegance, and confidence of Otta Fashionistas.
The streets glowed with rich Aso-Oke, Adire, beads, crowns, and modern interpretations of indigenous attire—each outfit telling a story of identity and pride. Music, dance, drama, and cultural performances electrified the atmosphere, while laughter, joy, and communal bonding filled the air.
The festival was not merely watched; it was experienced. The people of Ota Awori land—young and old, indigenes and friends—owned the moment, proudly celebrating who they are and where they come from.
A FESTIVAL WITH MEANING, A FUTURE WITH PROMISE
Iganmode Festival 2025 reaffirmed that culture remains one of the strongest tools for social cohesion, youth empowerment, tourism development, and intergenerational connection. It showcased Ota Awori Kingdom as a land rich in history, creativity, hospitality, and progressive thought.
As the drums fade and the memories linger, one truth stands tall: Iganmode Festival is no longer just an annual event—it is a movement.
A movement powered by a visionary king, supported by purposeful leadership, embraced by the people, and carried forward by a generation proud of its roots and confident in its future.
Indeed, “Ti Ojú Ọba Ti Òṣùpá Lípẹ̀tí, Ojú Ọmọ Iganmode Kì Í Ṣe Kékèké.”
When the throne shines brightly, the children of Iganmode cannot but see far, dream boldly, and walk proudly into destiny.
