Baale, High Chief Alayo Agboola, appeals for culvert, borehole, transformer and renovation of dilapidated primary school
OWU SODUN, Obafemi Owode LGA, Ogun State .
The ancient Owu Sodun Community, located along Ayerose Road in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, has appealed to the government, philanthropists, corporate organisations and well-meaning individuals to urgently intervene in its infrastructural challenges.
The appeal was made by the Baale of Owu Sodun Community, High Chief Alayo Agboola, during an event held on Thursday, October 22, 2026, where he drew attention to the pressing developmental needs of the community, which he said has existed for over 300 years.
Despite its rich historical heritage and long-standing existence, the community continues to face challenges requiring urgent attention to improve the living conditions of its residents.
Among the major needs identified by the traditional leader is the construction of a culvert to improve drainage and ease movement, particularly during the rainy season. The community also requires a borehole to provide residents with access to clean and reliable water for domestic use.
High Chief Agboola further appealed for the installation of an electricity transformer to improve power supply and support economic and social activities within the community.
Another major concern is the dilapidated condition of St. Peter African Church Primary School, Owu Agbede, which requires urgent renovation to provide pupils and teachers with a safer and more conducive learning environment.
The Baale stressed that education remains a vital foundation for community development and that children in the area deserve a decent school environment where they can learn and pursue their aspirations.
He therefore called on the Ogun State Government, the Obafemi Owode Local Government authorities, elected political officeholders, community development agencies and private individuals to come to the aid of Owu Sodun.
According to him, providing these essential facilities would significantly improve the welfare of residents, promote educational development, enhance access to basic amenities and strengthen economic activities in the area.
The appeal also presents an opportunity for public-spirited individuals and organisations to contribute to the preservation and development of a community with more than three centuries of history.
As Owu Sodun looks towards a brighter future, residents hope that the appeal will attract the necessary attention and translate into tangible developmental projects.
For High Chief Alayo Agboola and the people of Owu Sodun, the demand is clear: a culvert for improved access, a borehole for clean water, a transformer for electricity and the renovation of St. Peter African Church Primary School, Owu Agbede.
These are not merely requests for infrastructure; they are essential investments in the welfare, education and future of a community whose history spans over 300 years.
