His Royal Majesty, Alayeluwa Oba (Dr.) Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, the Olu Ilaro, Paramount Ruler of Yewaland and Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas, on Wednesday, 17th September 2025, received members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) from Yewa South on a courtesy visit. The corps members, about 84 in number, were led by their Local Government Inspector, Mrs. Mercy Aluge, alongside their Corps Liaison Officers (CLOs): CLO Adenijo Adejumoke, Ilaro Division, and CLO Ojo Ibukunoluwa, Owode Division.
The visit was a very friendly one, with Kabiyesi engaging the corps members in warm and light-hearted interactions. His Majesty created a fun-filled atmosphere, making the corps members feel at home while encouraging them to see their service year in Yewaland as a period of learning and meaningful contribution.
On Thursday, 18th September, Oba Olugbenle received the new Comptroller of Immigration for Ogun State, Comptroller Olufunke Odusote. The Comptroller, who recently assumed office, hails from Ikenne, Ogun State. Her courtesy call was to seek royal blessings on her new assignment and to strengthen partnership with the palace.
Oba Olugbenle warmly welcomed her and congratulated her on the new assignment. Kabiyesi highlighted the unique realities of the Yewa border region and urged the Comptroller and her delegation to adopt a people-first approach in their work. He also commended the President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his impactful and progressive reforms. His Majesty offered his royal blessings and enjoined her to complement the good efforts of the Tinubu-led administration.
Later in the evening, Kabiyesi received a delegation of the Ogun State House of Assembly led by the Honourable Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, and his Deputy, Hon. Bolanle Lateefat Ajayi. The delegation had earlier attended the commissioning of projects facilitated by the Deputy Speaker and member representing Yewa South State Constituency, Hon. Bolanle Lateefat Ajayi.
Hon. Bolanle Ajayi appreciated the Paramount Ruler for his continuous fatherly support and went on to brief His Majesty on her projects. The projects commissioned included 20 units of open stalls at Sayedero Market, a block of two classrooms at Ipaja-Idogo, 20 units of open stalls at Eredo, and 100 units of solar installations.
On the delegation were Hon. Dickson Awolaja (Remo North), Hon. Lawal Shamsideen (Ogun Waterside), Hon. Sheriff Bankole (Vice Chairman, Yewa South Local Government), Comr. Abduljabar Ayelaagbe (SLG, Yewa South Local Government), Chief Taliat Sanusi, Hon. Fatai Olayode, among others.
In attendance were chiefs who had earlier joined Hon. Ajayi at the commissioning of her constituency projects – Chief Thomas Lala, Bobaseto of Ilaro-Yewa; Chief (Mrs.) Yemisi Oloyo, Iya-Ewe of Ilaro-Yewa; Chief (Mrs.) Adunni Onifade, Otun Iya-Ewe of Ilaro-Yewa; and Chief Abdulai Aliu, Asoju Tapa of Ilaro-Yewa.
Oba Olugbenle’s approachable leadership style remains a cornerstone of progress in Yewaland. This inclusive style of leadership continues to serve as a catalyst for sustainable development in both Yewaland and Ogun State at large.
