Aregbesola and a few others who Tinubu helped to become governors wanted to upstage him particularly in the SW.
They possibly would have succeeded if Fashola, Ajimobi and Akeredolu (the latter duo both late now) had joined hands with them.
While Fashola and Akeredolu were both approachable, Ajimobi was not.
It was for that reason that Tinubu ensured that Ajimobi became the National Vice Chairman (South).
Ajimobi became a senator on the platform of ANPP and Tinubu therefore thought of bringing him to ACN. The professor of practice in politics, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu thought rightly that if a man could win a senate seat on the platform of ANPN in Oyo state, then, he’s a very popular person and he could become governor on a more acceptable platform in the SW.
That was how Ajimobi became an ACN man and same for Amosun.
Till he breathed his last, Ajimobi, oko Florence did not plan to supplant Tinubu and because of his fearless overbearing posture, those who wanted to reduce Tinubu’s influence in the SW found it difficult to face him.
Akeredolu would have been unapproachable too but he was not Tinubu’s preferred aspirant in Ondo state. His choice was Segun Abraham. Due to the influence of Aregbe and his cohorts, Abraham lost to Aketi in the party’s primary but Aketi did not know that they had a bigger plan, he thought they supported him only because they loved him and so when he knew of their grand plan, he made it clear that he was for the Leader who he famously referred to as the Capo de Tuti in an interview when he was asked of the 2022 APC presidential ticket.
Fashola was wooed but he did not cave in. He said in an interview that “may our loyalty not be tested”.
Yesterday, when Baba Halfusa stated again in Ilorin that APC has failed Nigeria, egbon was only crying over his being our of power since 1999. He knows that Tinubu is far above him after all his schemings to supplant him have failed.
He boasted in Ilorin yesterday that he’ll teach them how do defeat Tinubu but that was the same statement Saraki made in Lagos, not as an ex-minister of public holiday declaration and prison break but as a very powerful senate president under whose leadership the national assembly was sabotaging the Buhari government and who was also powerful enough to smuggle the ex-Waziri, Aregbesola’s new leader to US.
After that statement in Lagos, Saraki has not won any election in his ward. Please tell Baba Halfusa.
