Ogun Government Strengthens TRACE Operations with Dashboard Cameras, Breathalyzers

The Ogun State Government has enhanced traffic management and enforcement across the state with the deployment of modern operational equipment to the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE).
On Tuesday, December 30, 2025, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, Mr. Olusegun Olaotan, officially presented dashboard cameras and breathalyzers to TRACE on behalf of the Road Safety Advisory Council. The initiative is aimed at boosting traffic law enforcement, improving evidence collection, and strengthening the prosecution of road traffic cases statewide.
According to the Ministry, the dashboard cameras are designed to provide real-time audio and visual recordings from both the front and rear views of TRACE operational vehicles. This innovation is expected to ensure accurate documentation of traffic incidents, enhance transparency, and support fair and objective decision-making during investigations and court proceedings.
The breathalyzers will assist TRACE officers in detecting alcohol-impaired driving, in line with existing road safety laws and regulations, thereby promoting safer road use across Ogun State.
Speaking on behalf of the agency, the Acting Commander General and Chief Executive Officer of TRACE, Commander Elias Omonayajo, described the intervention as timely and crucial, particularly in light of recent road traffic incidents recorded in the state. He noted that the deployment of dashboard cameras would provide credible, real-time evidence, reduce disputes arising from traffic incidents, and further improve professionalism and accountability within the agency.
Commander Omonayajo expressed appreciation to the Ogun State Government, the Ministry of Justice, and the Road Safety Advisory Council for what he described as a strategic investment in road safety and justice delivery. He reaffirmed TRACE’s commitment to the proper deployment and effective use of the equipment in strict adherence to existing laws and the agency’s mandate to protect lives and property on the state’s roads.
Officials present at the presentation included the Head of Planning, Research and Statistics, Commander Olusola Ojuoro; Head of Specialized Training, Commander Filani Morolake; Staff Officer I of the Public Relations Department, Officer Oluwafunmito Akinwunmi; and the Protocol Officer to the Acting Commander General/CEO, Officer Alatishe Adebayo.
The intervention is expected to further strengthen Ogun State’s road safety framework and significantly improve compliance with traffic regulations across the state.
