Eid-el-Fitr: TRACE Deploys Full Operations Across Ogun to Ensure Smooth Traffic Flow

As part of proactive measures to guarantee hitch-free movement during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) has activated its full operational capacity across 27 major traffic corridors in the state.
The special traffic operation, which began on March 16, 2026, is scheduled to run through March 27, 2026, covering strategic highways and critical traffic points across Ogun State.
In a statement issued by the Senior TRACE Commander, Elias Omonayajo Adedayo, the initiative is aimed at delivering efficient, round-the-clock traffic management throughout the festive period.
Adedayo disclosed that TRACE operatives have also been strategically deployed to Eid praying grounds across all 20 local government areas of the state to effectively manage vehicular movement and parking, ensuring smooth entry and exit for worshippers.
He explained that the operation will prioritize heightened patrol visibility, strategic placement of rescue and emergency response teams, as well as intensified public enlightenment campaigns before, during, and after the celebrations.
“With the anticipated surge in human and vehicular movement, our officers will maintain strict monitoring of all categories of road users, including commercial and private motorists,” he stated.
Key routes under close surveillance include the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Sagamu–Ijebu-Ode–Benin/Ore Expressway, Sango/Ota–Idiroko corridor, Atan–Agbara–Badagry route, and the Abeokuta–Siun Interchange, among other critical highways.
Motorists have been strongly advised to exercise caution, particularly on roads undergoing construction or rehabilitation. TRACE officials will be stationed at such points to regulate traffic and ensure safety.
The agency also revealed that it will collaborate with other security and safety agencies, alongside community-based traffic management groups, to strengthen coordination and enhance overall road safety during the festivities.
Field commanders have been instructed to ensure that all operatives exhibit professionalism, civility, and fairness in the discharge of their duties.
Extending warm Eid greetings to Muslim faithful and all road users, Adedayo urged motorists to avoid speeding, drunk driving, and unnecessary night travel, while strictly adhering to traffic regulations.
He further warned that any vehicle impounded for traffic violations during the operation will not be released until March 30, 2026, after the exercise concludes.

The agency also assured that real-time traffic updates, alerts, and advisories will be provided via its social media platforms throughout the festive period.
