OGUN AT 50: RENEWING THE PROMISE OF FAIRNESS AND INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP

Fifty years is not just a milestone; it is a mirror. As Ogun State marks her golden jubilee, the Gateway State must reflect not only on achievements recorded, but on justice dispensed—and justice delayed.
Ogun State, the land of firsts, has contributed immensely to Nigeria’s intellectual, industrial, and political evolution. Yet, even in celebration, truth must be spoken with courage. In fifty years of statehood, Ogun West Senatorial District has never produced a governor. Not once. For half a century, an entire district—rich in people, culture, and productivity—has watched leadership rotate everywhere else while its own aspiration stood outside the gate of history.
That long wait has now matured into resolve.
Across the five local government areas of Ogun West, a rare and historic unity has emerged. Voices once scattered have converged into one clear and unmistakable demand: the time is now. No longer a plea for sympathy, but a principled insistence on justice, equity, and inclusion. The people of Ogun West have therefore spoken with one voice, presenting Olamilekan Adeola Solomon, fondly called YAYI, as their preferred choice to lead Ogun State into her next chapter.
This position is strongly echoed by the good people of Ipokia Local Government, who align fully with the collective aspiration of Ogun West. Ipokia stands firmly in demanding Ogun West for Governor and openly endorses Senator Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI) as Governor of Ogun State, in the spirit of fairness, balance, and inclusive leadership.
This call for equity at the state level finds an even sharper and more urgent expression at the grassroots.
In Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency, representation in the Federal House of Representatives is guided by rotation between two local governments. However, within Ipokia Local Government, structured into Zone A, Zone B, and Zone C, equity has remained incomplete. History is clear and uncontested:
Zone A produced Hon. Kamorudeen Oduntan.
Zone B produced Hon. Abiodun Abdulkadir Akinlade.
Zone C has produced none. Not once.
This is no longer an oversight. It is systemic marginalisation.
For years, Zone C has delivered votes, loyalty, peace, and development. Yet, when representation is shared, its people are repeatedly asked to wait—while others recycle opportunities already enjoyed. Ogun at 50 cannot justify another delay. Fairness postponed has become injustice sustained.
The position of Zone C is therefore clear, firm, and non-negotiable:
2027 must belong to Zone C of Ipokia Local Government.
Not as a favour.
Not as compensation.
But as justice long overdue.
Importantly, Zone C is not merely demanding inclusion—it is presenting capacity, credibility, and consensus. After extensive consultation and collective resolve, the people of Zone C, with the full backing of the good people of Ipokia Local Government, have rallied behind Fayomi Ajibola Abraham (FAYAB) as their clear, credible, and preferred candidate to represent Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
This is not an imposed ambition. It is a people’s mandate. FAYAB embodies the values Zone C has long been denied the opportunity to project—fairness, competence, effective representation, and inclusive leadership.
Let it be stated plainly:
Any attempt to sidestep Zone C again is an attempt to institutionalise inequality.
Any attempt to recycle old patterns is a rejection of fairness.
Any attempt to ignore this collective demand undermines the very spirit of Ogun at 50.
A golden jubilee that ignores justice is an empty celebration.
Ogun State was founded on ideals of equity and progress. Those ideals ring hollow if entire districts and zones remain permanently excluded from leadership. Zone C has waited long enough. Ogun West has waited long enough. Ipokia has spoken clearly.
History is knocking—firmly and finally.
For Ogun West as Governor.
For YAYI as Governor of Ogun State.
For Zone C of Ipokia Local Government.
For Hon. Fayomi Ajibola Abraham (FAYAB) as Honourable Member representing Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency.
The promise must be renewed.
The choice is clear.
The time is now.
