Acting Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs (ACG) Haniel Hadison has assumed duty as Commandant of the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College (NCCSC), Gwagwalada, Abuja, after his predecessor, Dow Gaura, was appointed Acting Deputy Comptroller-General (DCG) of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
The change-of-command ceremony, held on Saturday, 24 October 2026, at the college premises, marked the formal transfer of leadership, with both officers thanking God for the opportunity to serve and acknowledging the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, for advancing the Service.
In his farewell remarks, Acting DCG Gaura thanked God for the opportunity to lead the college and for completing his tenure. He also thanked the Comptroller-General for his leadership and commitment to transforming the Service. “My appreciation goes to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, for his selfless service to humanity. He is a leader who strives for excellence, which is why we see the high standing of NCS staff within the nation today,” Gaura said.
Gaura stressed that effective Customs administration requires vision, integrity, endurance and perseverance, noting that self-confidence and accountability were essential for officers to discharge their duties transparently. He also highlighted the college’s role in capacity development and equipping officers with the skills required to improve national revenue generation, while urging students to remain committed to their academic and research pursuits. “I urge you to read your books and commit yourself thoroughly to research,” he advised.
In his remarks, Hadison thanked God for the opportunity to lead the college and expressed gratitude to the Comptroller-General and the NCS management for the confidence they placed in him. He described his appointment as a significant responsibility and pledged to uphold the institution’s academic and professional standards.
“The college is the apex learning institution of the NCS, where standards and professionalism must be continuously upheld,” Hadison said, emphasising the institution’s strategic role in developing competent officers to meet the evolving demands of Customs administration.
The new commandant also commended Gaura for his resilience and service to the college, urging officers to remain committed to actualising the Comptroller-General’s vision of a transformed Service. He pledged to build on his predecessor’s achievements and sustain the college’s contribution to professional development within the NCS.
The ceremony climaxed with the signing and exchange of handover documents, followed by a ceremonial parade in honour of Gaura. The lowering of the outgoing commandant’s flag and the hoisting of Hadison’s flag formally symbolised the transfer of leadership at the institution.
