In its determination to strengthen professional journalism, promote ethical reporting and build strategic partnerships within the media industry, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun West Independent Chapel, has honoured Engr. Bode Olabisi, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of IRAWO FM, with an ambassadorial decoration.
The recognition came during a courtesy visit by the chapel’s newly inaugurated executive committee, led by its Chairman, Comrade Olatunji Egbewunmi, alongside the Secretary, Comrade Fashina Olugbenga, and the Auditor, Comrade Oyedele Samuel.
The visit provided an opportunity for meaningful discussions on the growth of the chapel, increased participation among media practitioners and the need for stronger collaboration between media organisations and professional bodies.
During the engagement, the delegation presented the chapel’s development agenda, emphasising its commitment to building a vibrant, united and professionally responsible union that will protect the interests of journalists while upholding the ethics and integrity of the profession.
In his response, Engr. Olabisi expressed appreciation for the visit and the honour bestowed upon him. He reaffirmed his commitment to journalism, professional ethics and initiatives aimed at advancing the welfare and development of the union.
Demonstrating his willingness to support the chapel’s growth, he assured the delegation that eligible staff members of IRAWO FM would be encouraged to participate in its activities and explore membership opportunities in line with NUJ requirements.
The assurance was welcomed by the delegation as an encouraging step towards strengthening professional relationships, broadening participation and fostering greater unity among journalists in Ogun West.
The visit culminated in the formal decoration of Engr. Olabisi as an ambassador of NUJ Ogun West Independent Chapel, symbolising the union’s recognition of his expressed commitment to supporting its development.
For the Egbewunmi-led administration, the engagement represents part of a broader effort to translate the chapel’s successful inauguration into sustained progress through stakeholder collaboration, membership development and the promotion of responsible journalism.
The meeting ended with renewed expectations for stronger cooperation between IRAWO FM and the chapel, as both sides look towards advancing professional standards and contributing to the continued growth of journalism in Ogun State.
