As Barrister Ibilola Kamilat Subair, popularly known as I.K. Subair, marks another milestone in her life, her birthday offers more than an occasion for celebration. As Chairman of the Ogun State Food Crops Marketing Board and the Yeye Amofin of Ijana, Ota, she represents a blend of professional competence and community responsibility.
The story of Barr. Subair begins with a family heritage deeply connected to both Lagos and Ota.
She was born to the late Alhaji Harun Oluwalambe Subair (Itogbe), from the Olabua Royal Family of Orile Agege, Lagos State, and the late Alhaja Nurat Olaleye Obaoku, from the Idota Family of Ota, Ogun State.
Her early education began at Zion Methodist Primary School, Ota, before she proceeded to Iganmode Grammar School, Ota. Her academic journey later took her to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, where she obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree.
Determined to deepen her professional knowledge, she proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, Abuja, and was called to the Nigerian Bar. She subsequently returned to Obafemi Awolowo University, where she obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.).
Her academic progression laid the foundation for a career that would eventually extend beyond conventional legal practice into public administration, politics, community service and humanitarian activities.
Barr. Subair’s professional identity is firmly rooted in law.
She began her legal career as Head of Chambers and Litigation Counsel at Lekan Ojo & Associates, where she developed her experience in legal practice and litigation. She later established her own law firm and became the Principal Counsel of Ibilola Subair Law Firm, providing legal services to clients within Nigeria and beyond.
Over the years, she has built a reputation around values such as diligence, integrity, discipline and professional excellence.
Her commitment to justice has also influenced her involvement in human-rights advocacy and community development. She is widely described as a disciplinarian who strongly believes in fairness and justice and who has dedicated significant attention to helping people within her sphere of influence.

She also serves as Legal Adviser to the Ijana Youths, Ota, a role that further demonstrates her connection with the younger generation and her community.
Her previous appointments and responsibilities have included serving as Legal Adviser to organisations and initiatives such as the Youth and Women Against Drug Initiative Foundation (YWADI), the Governor’s Friend Association of Nigeria, Ogun State Chapter, Ijamido Children’s Home, Ota, the National Painters Association of Nigeria, and the Advertisers and Screen Printers Association of Nigeria, Ado-Odo/Ota Chapter.
She has also participated in youth, women and political-development initiatives, reflecting her interest in public engagement

During the 2023 elections, she served as a Team Leader for the All Progressives Congress professional organisations and business communities under the Central Working Committee for Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government. She also served as Deputy Coordinator for BAT Lawyers, Ado-Odo/Ota Chapter, and as State Legal Adviser to the National Coalition of Tinubu Support Group.
