EGBEWUNMI, FASHINA, ADEYEMI LEAD PIONEER EXECUTIVE OF NUJ OGUN WEST INDEPENDENT CHAPEL

A new chapter has opened for the Ogun West Independent Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) with the formal inauguration of its pioneer executive led by Comrade Olatunji Egbewunmi.
The inauguration, held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the historic Iwe Iroyin Press Centre, Abeokuta, marked another milestone in the development of the chapel.
Egbewunmi assumed office as Chairman, with Comrade Gbenga Fashina as Secretary and Comrade Sunday Adeyemi as Treasurer. The trio had earlier emerged during the chapel’s maiden election, with their leadership subsequently ratified by the Ogun State NUJ Council.
The new executive is expected to build on the foundation of the chapel by promoting unity, professionalism, members’ welfare and stronger participation in NUJ activities.
Speaking during the inauguration, Ogun NUJ Chairman, Comrade Akinwale Olanrewaju, congratulated the new executives and urged them to lead with humility, accountability and commitment to the collective interests of members. He also encouraged members to support the new administration and sustain the spirit of unity that characterised the electoral process.
The emergence of the Egbewunmi-led administration signals the beginning of a new phase for the Ogun West Independent Chapel, with members looking forward to purposeful leadership, professional growth and stronger representation within the NUJ.
